Czech Television report: a world-class astrophysicist moves to Brno

An astrophysicist of world renown will be undertaking research at Masaryk University in Brno since this summer. Originally from Slovakia, Norbert Werner is coming to south Moravia thanks to a special grant. He will be researching intergalactic gases here and wants to cooperate with Brno companies focused on the space industry.

MF DNES: The recent floods were the worst in Europe for 500 years

European scientists, including experts from the MU Faculty of Science, have mapped the occurrence of floods over the past five centuries. The extensive historical survey of European floods has now been published in the journal Nature. Read more in today's MF DNES (only in Czech).

We announce the very sad news that Professor František Lukeš, who worked for many years at the Department of Condensed Matter Physics in the MU Faculty of Science and was, among other things, Vice-Rector of the University between 1990-1992, has died.
